How to Play
Goal: Earn enough points to meet or exceed the victory threshold. Rounds: Enemies spawn each time you move to a new location on the board. Moving on the Board: Scroll to the center of the map. Click on the movement ability on one of the four arrows to move to a new location. If you don't see any arrows, it is because you have a round in progress. Upgrading Towers: You must clear a certain number of waves in a specific terrain type to upgrade each line of towers. The terrain type of each area is found in its description (or visually on the board).
Strategies
"Don't you have a strategy!?" -Antonidas "Much like IceFrog, while I made the game, I don't necessarily know how to be a pro. Take all of these with a grain of salt." -ShadowElf Basic Buoys Strategy: Build 'Aura' giving towers throughout your maze, spaced so they try to cover as many enemies and allied towers as possible. Try to get access to as many 'Tier 2' towers as possible, but focus on one or two terrain types to upgrade further. Pay careful attention to towers' abilities and ranges so you can place them effectively in your maze. Cancerous Growth: The Grove Treant line of towers gains bonus damage based on how many of its towers you have built. Spam them. Maybe add a slowing or armor reduction tower or two for good measure, but otherwise fill your maze with these towers. Their damage bonus stacks up to 100 times, so that means A LOT of damage. Don't build the Alpine Wolf towers, as their damage buff only applies to base damage. Be warned that all that damage will only be piercing. A Galloping Infection: Build the Stormweaver Acolyte towers all along the edges of your maze, as close as 1 space apart. Their aura deals damage each second based on a percentage of enemies' max health. After going all the way through the maze, if enemies are slowed enough, they might be killed by auras alone at max tier. Just be warned that it's all magic damage, so certain armor types won't be nearly as uppity about this build. Fusterclucking Spam Fagget Trapz: Spam either Rogue Blademaster or Goblin Tinker lines of towers, mostly in the corner-build-spots of your maze. These either lay mines at the start of the round or summon attacking units when enemies die during the round, even if their ordinary attacks aren't so great. Expect your FPS to drop, but also expect to have a lot of entities doing automatic damage.
F.A.Q.
Can players be eliminated? No. Players do not have a set number of lives. All players can remain in the game until one player reaches the victory threshold. Can I win without doing quests? Technically, yes. You get a much smaller amount of points for just clearing waves, so it is recommended that you complete quests. Is it better to complete quests or clear waves that let me upgrade my towers? You should be trying to do both. For early waves, it is recommended that you focus on upgrading towers. If it is obvious that another player has a better board position for the current quest, it might be best to ignore it then too. Is it better to have lots of different towers at lower tiers, or a few towers at higher tiers? You will need higher tier towers to clear waves later in the game, but it is probably good to start by getting as many lower-tier towers as you can.
F.A.Q. 2
How long should this take? Normally it's around 45 minutes, but there are a lot of variables. Did you get good quest RNG? How many veteran players are there? Are you actually retarded? Etc. hoW ar yu So smrt? *[Born this Way] plays ironically in the background* Why does the victory threshold seem... weird? The base threshold is 2100, reduced by 100 points per player in the game. More players means fewer quests that each player completes, and these are the most balanced numbers. I wanted a different character for the central board! That's not a question. Each player color is assigned a set character. If you want a different character, play a different color. Simple.
Updates
v1.01 Changes: -Changed some of the flavor text -Clarified a few descriptions -Made some of the triggers more efficient -Changed upgrade terminology for towers -'Hulking Abomination' is now 'Ancient Abomination'
