1. Zero-Tracking Architecture

WC3Map is designed from the ground up as a fast, clean community utility. We believe that downloading game maps and reading documentation should not involve surveillance or user tracking:

  • No User Accounts: We do not offer account registration, logins, user passwords, or profile tracking. Every visitor accesses the same public catalog without needing an account.
  • No Analytics Tracking: We do not run Google Analytics, tracking pixels, session recording tools, or behavioral telemetry on this website.
  • No Advertising Networks: We do not serve third-party commercial advertisements, marketing trackers, or ad-targeting scripts.

2. Cookies & Local Browser Storage

Our use of client-side browser storage is strictly minimal and operational:

  • Theme Preference (Local Storage): When you toggle between Dark Mode and Light Mode on the site, your browser saves your visual preference in localStorage under the key wc3map-theme. This value never leaves your browser, is not transmitted to our servers, and is used solely to apply your chosen color theme on subsequent page visits.
  • No Tracking Cookies: WC3Map does not set any first-party or third-party tracking, advertising, or profiling cookies.
  • Network Security Cookies: Our hosting provider and Content Delivery Network (Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary security and operational cookies (such as Cloudflare bot management and DDoS protection tokens) to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated attack traffic. These cookies are essential for network security and do not track your personal identity.

3. Hosting & Network Infrastructure

WC3Map is hosted on Cloudflare Workers and delivers pages and map downloads through Cloudflare's global edge network and R2 object storage.

In the normal course of processing HTTP requests and streaming map downloads, Cloudflare edge servers temporarily process standard web request metadata, including:

  • Your Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • Requested web URL or file path
  • Browser user-agent string and operating system information
  • HTTP referrer and response status codes

This server-level metadata is processed to transmit requested content to your computer, mitigate malicious attacks (such as distributed denial-of-service attempts), and ensure edge caching performance. This data is handled in accordance with standard internet protocol requirements and Cloudflare's privacy practices.

4. Direct Inquiries & Email Communications

When you contact us by sending an email to contact@wc3map.com or dmca@wc3map.com, your email message, sender address, and any attached documentation are routed through Cloudflare Email Routing and stored securely in our mailbox.

We retain these communications solely to read and act on your questions, catalog corrections, or copyright notices. A reply is not guaranteed. We do not sell, rent, or distribute your email address to marketers or external third parties.

5. Future Architecture & Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy accurately reflects the operational architecture of wc3map.com today. If we ever introduce new platform featuresā€”such as optional anonymous performance telemetry or advertising to offset hosting costsā€”this policy will be updated prior to any deployment, and any necessary consent mechanisms will be provided.
