d3rt0xx
Updated the map to Warcraft III Reforged and clean up whole code.
TheZizz
Created Uther Party in its entirety. Created and implemented all mini-games (with a few exceptions detailed below).
JuberMAN
Created the gameplay mechanics for Stampede, and offered many ideas and suggestions throughout development.
Mech_1000
Created the gameplay mechanics for a number of mini-games, including Stop and Go, Push the Ogre, The Spike Pit, and The Salamander Sizzle. Also offered other ideas and suggestions.
Tifa_Lockhart
Created the gameplay mechanics for The Plague.
Changes
- Rebased whole code to Warcraft III Reforged
- In Bomb Baldwin, an issue has been fixed that let players quickly find Baldwin by using special display settings.
- In Blinky the Bear, the Blink ability's cooldown has been reduced.
- In Minotaur Maze, winning now requires only 1 piece of Shimmerweed.
- In Troubled Waters, the waves' speed and frequency have been reduced.
- In The Sheep Shearers, players' movement speed has been greatly increased.
- In Spell Breaker Blood, the Spell Breaker's hit points have been drastically reduced. Also, the creature frequency has been slightly increased.
- In Dune Worm Distress, the Wildkin's AI has been improved to be more aggressive.
- In Flight of the Footmen, players' hit points have been slightly increased.
- In Tower Defense, the timer has been increased. Also, the Archmages will now cast spells in a consistent pattern.
- In The Death Trap, the spikes flucuate slower than before.
Peon Pandemonium
Peon Pandemonium
The lovable orc peons find themselves in a sticky situation! Avoid a barrage of catapult rocks for as long as possible. As time passes, more and more catapults spawn into play.
Advice
Though it receives more fire, the center is generally the best place to be, because you have more time to anticipate and dodge the rocks. It loses its advantage as the game progresses, however, as the catapults become too numerous to track. Also, beware of a deadlier catapult, the demolisher, which fires oil-coated munitions.
TheZizz's Comments
As the first mini-game I created, this particular one will always have a special place in my mind.
The Rat Maze
The Rat Maze
The cheese beckons, and the rats have answered its smelly call. Outmaneuver a pack of hungry spiders, and claim this glorious bounty!
Advice
Anticipating the spiders' movements helps greatly. If you do not, you may find yourself trapped. Also, your rat will slow down dramatically while carrying the cheese, so be extra careful.
TheZizz's Comments
This game probably stems from my childhood infatuation with mazes and labyrinths.
The Kaboom Room
The Kaboom Room
An explosive death awaits the slow-footed in this treacherous confinement! Avoid the flames as long as possible. As time passes, more and more flames will form.
Advice
Remember that anyone who dies in The Kaboom Room will explode, killing anyone else in close proximity; as such, stay away from weakened players. On the flipside, this game offers a good opportunity to kill a leading player.
TheZizz's Comments
The middle does not heal you. Please stop.
Hot Mortar
Hot Mortar
The reckless dwarves have devised a brutal variation of the classic game Hot Potato. Pass the mortar along before it explodes! Be the last one to stay in one piece to win.
Advice
If there's a specific player you are after, this mini-game is for you! With experience and a bit of luck, you can directly kill a player by holding the mortar just long enough before firing. The timer on the mortar is random, of course, so it's a risk.
TheZizz's Comments
Hot Mortar was, by far, the most challenging mini-game to make. I had quite a task ironing out the bugs. In fact, the inclusion of computer player support in Uther Party was largely because of this mini-game, and the need to frequently test it with multiple players.
The Clean-up Crew
The Clean-up Crew
A troupe of exterminators threatens the habitat of the poor, misunderstood ghouls. Stay on the precious blight as long as you can! The priests will dispel the blight from under you as the game progresses.
Advice
In this game, it is best to keep moving. The priests aim their dispels exclusively at locations of ghouls, so remaining in constant motion will help you escape in time.
TheZizz's Comments
This is one of my favorites, though I'm not really sure why.
Way of the Bow
Way of the Bow
The Night Elf Sentinels reveal their savage side. Show your colleagues that you are the greatest archer in Kalimdor, by killing them!
Advice
Avoiding arrows is difficult; any arrow that targets you will follow your path. Wait for the arrow to fire before you move or change direction.
TheZizz's Comments
Of all the mini-games, I think this one has the greatest "mastery" potential.
Roadkill Challenge
Roadkill Challenge
Drivers don't stop for anyone these days. Stave off their legendary negligence and reach the end! You have less than 2 minutes to complete this task before rush hour.
Advice
Be sure to steer clear of other players. They may block you and throw off your timing. Also, the gap between the two cars at the end can, in fact, fit a murloc, but it is very difficult.
TheZizz's Comments
This Frogger clone is far from original, but I am happy with it anyway.
Covert Kitty
Covert Kitty
The fearsome Doom Guards are on a ruthless search-and-destroy mission. Elude their grasp with the aid of night, but be wary! Dawn is fast approaching.
Advice
A mad dash for the goal could be fruitful under certain circumstances, but the Doom Guards' Cripple spell will stop you very quickly. If possible, wait for other players to draw the Doom Guards' attention before running.
TheZizz's Comments
I rather like this one, because I believe it's one of the most balanced mini-games.
Polymorph Ring
Polymorph Ring
The powers of polymorph are needed in this deadly prison. Fend off gigantic creatures using only your magic, and outlast your opponents.
Advice
Save your mana if you can afford to; let others cast the spells for you. You may opt to use your magic on your opponents, and if you do so, make sure the mana consumption will be worth it. Once your mana is spent, there is no way to regenerate it.
TheZizz's Comments
I asked myself, "What can I do with Polymorph?" What you see here is the end result. The Slow spell was later added for increased depth of play.
The Tauren Tragedy
The Tauren Tragedy
The proud, noble tauren face elimination at the hands of overwhelming numbers. Be the last one standing in this deathtrap!
Advice
You can either use your abilities for self-preservation, or you can use them to deal direct damage to your opponents. Ration your mana carefully, and don't let yourself get surrounded.
TheZizz's Comments
This mini-game was inspired by GodMatik's impressive footman surrounding techniques. Mountain King not included.
Bomb Baldwin
Bomb Baldwin
The dwarves have been enlisted to handle a domestic disturbance! Find Baldwin, and bomb his ass.
Advice
Killing a random peasant will scatter the group, giving you a better opportunity to discern Baldwin from the bunch. You can quickly check each peasant by putting your cursor over them, without selecting them.
TheZizz's Comments
This game replaces a notoriously unpopular game, The Uprising.
Dark Forest
The Dark Forest - The dark forest houses creatures of great evil. Use your wits and your shapeshifting abilities to avoid their icy grasp.
Advice
Abominations are more common than gargoyles, but gargoyles are much quicker and deadlier. As such, the storm crow form is better suited for emergency situations and should be used sparingly.
TheZizz's Comments
The balancing of this one will be very difficult. Hopefully, storm crow form exploits are nonexistent.
Hungry Hungry Kodos
Hungry Hungry Kodos
In a grim spectacle, the orcs have subjected their kodos to a fight for survival. Eat all the pigs you can, for they will give you precious sustenance! The biggest glutton shall emerge triumphant.
Advice
Devouring children will not yield any health, but it will give you mana for Regurgitate, which could tip the scales in your favor.
TheZizz's Comments
This mini-game is a little more frantic than I had hoped. I still enjoy it, though.
Raider Relay
Raider Relay
Life isn't easy for the green guys. Complete a harrowing obstacle course using your wits, your nets, and your goblin ties.
Advice
Lure the bears, then ensnare them off to the side. The hippogryphs can be dealt with in a similar manner using the middle platform, but doing so leaves your zeppelin open to attack.
TheZizz's Comments
This mini-game may be a bit too difficult for many people. Admittedly, it didn't turn out quite like I hoped it would.
Treant Valley
Treant Valley
The trees have endured the excrements of others for far too long! Avoid their chlorophyll-fueled justice as long as possible. More and more treants will awaken as time passes.
Advice
Trees will glow green for a brief period before forming into treants. Keep a close eye on the trees, and use their slow movement speed to your advantage.
TheZizz's Comments
The premise of this game is extremely simple, which is why I like it so much.
The Skeleton Sonata
The Skeleton Sonata
It is the priests' turn to die! Ward off the skeletons as long as possible using your dispel magic.
Advice
Relatively speaking, mana is not a big issue in this one. The important thing is to budget your cooldown time by dispelling only when you need to. Also, try to get as many as possible in one cast, without helping your opponents too much.
TheZizz's Comments
Simple and tough, this game stands as one of my favorites.
Stampede
Stampede
The orc grunts must take a harrowing test of reflex and endurance. Dodge the oncoming stampede as long as possible! The last one standing shall emerge victorious.
Advice
The back may offer temporary sanctuary, but before long, the stampede will start coming from both directions. Your best chance is to stay in the middle.
TheZizz's Comments
Thanks goes to JuberMAN for this idea. He has permitted me to use it here.
Stop and Go
Stop and Go
The cuddly seals are at the command of the omnipotent traffic controller. Go when he gives you the green light, and stop when he gives you the red light! The winner is the first to reach the end.
Advice
Your purge magic can be a useful tool, but you only get one cast. Use it wisely, and be sure not to cast it while the light is red.
TheZizz's Comments
The idea for this mini-game was originally conceived by Mech_1000 (as a Starcraft map). He has permitted me to use it here.
Push the Ogre
Push the Ogre
The knights are faced with a test of strength and patience! Push the obese and volatile ogre to your circle, but beware of gaseous retaliation.
Advice
Anticipate the gas attack ahead of time, instead of simply waiting for the signal. Though it comes at random intervals, there is some consistency in its frequency.
TheZizz's Comments
This mini-game is a variation on one of Mech_1000's ideas. He has permitted me to use it here.
The Spike Pit
The Spike Pit
The simple villagers of Warcraft find themselves in an evil wizard's spike pit! Stay on the safe spot as long as you can, and keep up with it. As the game progresses, the spot will move faster and faster.
Advice
Though random to a certain extent, the path of the safe spot is very much a circular one. Take care, however; if it hits a boundary, it will abruptly turn around in the opposite direction.
TheZizz's Comments
Like several others, the basic idea for this mini-game was thought up by Mech_1000.
The Salamander Sizzle
The Salamander Sizzle
The mighty salamander is a very aggressive reptile, even to others of its own kind. Vanquish your opponents with firey disposition!
Advice
Spewing a fireball costs 75 mana, though your mana regenerates very quickly. Be sure to use the mushrooms for cover wherever possible.
TheZizz's Comments
Here is another game that was designed by Mech_1000, and implemented by me.
Obey Archimonde
Obey Archimonde
What Archimonde says, goes! Follow his lead, or else. As the game progresses, his assortment of moves will increase, as will the speed of those moves.
Advice
Hotkeys help tremendously in this one, especially with the Bloodlust and Unholy Frenzy moves. Learn them, and your chances of survival will increase.
TheZizz's Comments
The concept of this mini-game was suggested by several people. It is a staple of the Mario Party series, and thus has a fitting place in Uther Party!
Whack-a-Fiend
Whack-a-Fiend
Something's been withering the soil, and the Mountain Kings are determined to find out what! Be the first to destroy 10 of the loathsome crypt fiends that dwell below.
Advice
Your Storm Bolt and Thunderclap abilities can be used for decisive kills, as well as for incapacitating opponents. Don't hesitate to use them.
TheZizz's Comments
This game is, perhaps, a little too mindless for my tastes.
Horse Race
Horse Race
The wizards have decided to race their trusty steeds. Be the first to cross the finish by using the 'B' key to boost yourself.
Advice
You only get 4 speed boosts, so conserve them as best as you can. If you use them too quickly (or not enough), you will fall behind.
TheZizz's Comments
This little gem is a favorite of mine. It's not as easy as you might think!
The Masquerade
The Masquerade
A troupe of vampires have taken residence amongst unsuspecting townsfolk. Feed at night, but return to your shelter before sunrise.
Advice
If you do not feed, you will starve before long. The amount of sustenance available is never enough to feed all the players; there will always be at least one who does not get a meal.
TheZizz's Comments
The concept of vampires is a bit overused, I think. But it is a very interesting concept nonetheless, and it works well here.
Crab Island
Crab Island
The Banshees desperately need a tan, so they decide to catch some rays at Crab Island; the island's inhabitants have other plans, however! Evade their snappers as long as possible.
Advice
Use your Possession ability wisely. Hold out as long as possible for a nice big one!
TheZizz's Comments
Could the little innocent crab in the corner hold the key to a secret? No.
Blinky the Bear
Blinky the Bear
The adventurous Blinky faces his toughest challenge yet! Maneuver past his surly cousins with the physics-defying Blink ability.
Advice
Try to plan your moves ahead of time. Once you step onto the field, there is little time to think!
TheZizz's Comments
A mini-game involving the famous Blink ability was a frequent request. Though I'm not sure what Blizzard was thinking when they made a blinking bear.
The Abombinations
The Abombinations
The Scourge has a new tool of destruction, and their first test subjects are a group of unsuspecting dwarves! Stay away from these monstrosities as long as possible.
Advice
Sabotage is the name of the game. Take every opportunity to shoot Abombinations that are close to your enemies.
TheZizz's Comments
Hopefully, people will like this one. It didn't turn out quite as well as I had hoped.
Sleepy Time
Sleepy Time
The cuddly Mountain Giants have stayed up past their bedtime! Lull them back to sleep with the golems' help.
Advice
Taunt the golems at the proper time intervals; when your opponents do not have the opportunity to steal your thunder.
TheZizz's Comments
This mini-game goes against every gamers' instinct. Pay attention to the instructions, or else!
Nature's Circle
Nature's Circle
The sacred Druids of the Wild epitomize the essence of nature. Stay one step ahead of your opponents in this game of evolution!
Advice
A triangular relationship exists between the 3 animal forms. Bears defeat Quillbeasts, Quillbeasts defeat Hawks, and Hawks defeat Bears. The key to victory is countering your opponents!
TheZizz's Comments
This is my take on the classic game, Rock/Paper/Scissors.
The Skull of Gul'dan
The Skull of Gul'dan
The nefarious Demon Hunters of Kalimdor yearn for the fabled skull of Gul'dan. Venture into the caverns and claim this powerful artifact.
Advice
The number of players affects the strength of the cavern enemies, so teamwork is highly suggested. Also, there are a few hidden treasures amongst the creatures. And don't forget to use the shop, situated just outside the cavern entrance.
TheZizz's Comments
I can't believe I went through with a mini-game like this. It is the largest and most complex by far.
Minotaur Maze
Minotaur Maze
The vibrant skinks find themselves in a cold, sterile labyrinth. Help them find the precious Shimmerweed so that they may transcend the confines of the reality imposed upon them.
Advice
The angry minotaurs are faster than you. Keep your distance, and keep an eye out.
TheZizz's Comments
You may have noticed that the maze has no dead-ends. I don't like dead-ends.
Quillboar Mile
Quillboar Mile
After a peaceful day of doing whatever it is that pigs do, the fugly little critters find that their route home is rife with hunters. Make a mad dash to safety, avoiding the deadly quills!
Advice
Throw off the Quillboars' attacks by changing your course. If you do not, the quills will "follow" your path and kill you.
TheZizz's Comments
Just call this the "Archer Training" game. The same dodging mechanics apply.
The Unseen
The Unseen
The dreadful denizens of the netherworld have surfaced. Use your troll magic to elude their blades, and reach the finish.
Advice
Sentry wards are relatively inexpensive, but last only 5 seconds. Stasis traps, on the other hand, are more expensive, but have far greater potential to aid you. Be careful not to place them too openly, however; the enemies will make short work of it in no time.
TheZizz's Comments
If there's one thing Blizzard knows how to do, it's making awesome character designs; almost everyone on Battle.net has a favorite unit. My favorite unit, of course, is the Paladin.
Destruction's Dance
Destruction's Dance
A new generation of orc warriors have risen to pursue physical and mental perfection. Prove your worth to the Horde by being the last one standing!
Advice
Your Blink ability is nearly free of adverse consequence; it has very low mana cost, and no cooldown, so use it generously. Blink in, strike your opponent, and blink out, before he can retaliate.
TheZizz's Comments
A few people may find this game familiar; its gameplay came from an experimental map I had previously done, long before the Frozen Throne expansion was even announced. The map was a love-it-or-hate-it manifestation.
Pork the Piggy
Pork the Piggy
It is lunchtime for the hunters of Durotar! With skill and precision, skewer the delicious piggy before anyone else.
Advice
You cannot directly target the pig in this game. When you right-click, the Hunter will throw his spear at that precise location. Therefore, you must anticipate the pig's movements.
TheZizz's Comments
The name is less than dignified, I admit.
The Plague
The Plague
The detestable acolytes have unleashed a mysterious disease upon their town. Now, they seek to escape the consequences of their reckless experimentation!
Advice
If you are killed, you will become a zombie. Although you will have lost the game at this point, it presents a chance to eliminate a leading player.
TheZizz's Comments
This mini-game idea was obtained from Tifa_Lockhart. She has permitted me to use it here.
Troubled Waters
Troubled Waters
The journey to shore has taken a turn for the worse, as the hermit crabs find themselves in troubled waters! Evade the oncoming waves, and reach the finish!
Advice
The track is divided into three lanes; at least one of these lanes will be unoccupied. Be sure to look ahead at the oncoming waves, to see which lane is open. Also, remember to get a running start at the beginning, before the waves have a chance to build up.
TheZizz's Comments
Another adaptation of one of Mech_1000's ideas.
The Sheep Shearers
The Sheep Shearers
The pillowmakers await their shipment of wool, but the sheep have other ideas! Escape the deadly blades, and reach safety!
Advice
The blades periodically change course, so the best time to move is right after they alternate their pattern. Also, remember that you will not have as much time if you advance against oncoming blades.
TheZizz's Comments
I found a need for a second sheep shearer after I discovered the editor's movement speed limitations.
Doggy Hell
Doggy Hell
A game of Fetch has turned ugly, as the dogs have followed their masters' sticks into the bowels of Hell! Obtain a stick, and escape!
Advice
The meat wagons may appear easy at first, but their attack speed increases when a player obtains a stick. Be careful.
TheZizz's Comments
This is my attempt at a Bound game, obviously.
Ancient Punisher
Ancient Punisher
The day of reckoning has come! Secure a cloak, and escape the Ancient Punisher's wrath with the aid of night!
Advice
There is always one item that is most definitely not a cloak; be sure that you do not get this one. Be ready when the items initially spawn.
TheZizz's Comments
You never know what little trigger technique you use could cause a server split! That's the spice of life, I guess.
Spellbreaker Blood
Spell Breaker Blood
The Blood Elves are notorious for embracing the darker side of magic. Bend the creatures of darkness to your will, and kill your opponents!
Advice
The very large creatures devestate all the lesser minions. They are rare, however, and require much mana to control, so saving your mana for one is a definite risk, especially when another player is doing the same!
TheZizz's Comments
What can I say? The idea just dawned on me one day, while I was looking at someone's Spell Breaker icon.
Dune Worm Distress
Dune Worm Distress
The dune worms are in peril! Dig yourself a home as quickly as possible, before the predator comes to feed!
Advice
The predator cannot dig through rocks as you can, but it can penetrate your barricades over time. Use them wisely, and keep your distance from the predator.
TheZizz's Comments
I was infatuated with ants as a child. As a result, I now have an encyclopedic knowledge of the little buggers.
Tides of Darkness
Tides of Darkness
Conflict grips the high seas, as the orcs and humans continue their epic struggle for dominance of Azeroth! Destroy one enemy ship to ensure your place as a war hero.
Advice
Avoid enemy fire when you have to, but do not wait too long before attacking. If you distance yourself from the fight, you will not have support from your allies later on.
TheZizz's Comments
I opted for more team-based gameplay in this one, instead of simply another free-for-all. Hopefully, it was not a mistake.
Flight of the Footmen
Flight of the Footmen
The life of a Lordaeron soldier is never easy; even their recreational activities are fraught with danger! Race to the finish while enduring the towers' attacks.
Advice
The first one to run will be fired upon; however, if they shadowmeld, another player will receive the fire. Be prepared to use your Defend skill in such a situation.
TheZizz's Comments
Far from newbie-friendly, this game will surely take some getting used to.
Tower Defense
Tower Defense
The crazed Archmagi are on a rampage! Stop them by constructing the one thing that they fear the most; the Arcane Tower.
Advice
Build with all your peasants as quickly as you can; every second counts. The Archmage will begin by attacking your peasants, but will start casting his spells in due time. Be careful.
TheZizz's Comments
This is not the Tower Defense you may be familiar with. I'd consider making a "real" Tower Defense, if only they didn't suck.
Wheel of Fire
Wheel of Fire
If you play with fire, you're going to get burned! The satyrs have recently learned this valuable lesson the hard way. Survive the Wheel of Fire!
Advice
Your Purge spell is a valuable tool, but remember that it takes a bit of time for you to cast it; otherwise, you may not live to reap its benefits.
TheZizz's Comments
The circular pattern of the wheel wasn't too difficult to create.
The Death Trap
The Death Trap
The misguided trolls find themselves inexplicably placed in a grid of spikes! Traverse the deadly construction to safety!
Advice
There is not much that needs to be known here. Only good timing will ensure victory!
TheZizz's Comments
Another example of a game that makes no sense. There are days when I just don't feel making sense.
Clandestine Kitty
Clandestine Kitty
Deep in Ashenvale forest, the hallowed waters of the Fountain of Life are in need. Manipulate the demons that guard it to aid your cause!
Advice
The Doom Guard has very powerful incantations, all of which have a use in this mini-game. Cast them as quickly as you can, because he will likely be stolen from you before long.
TheZizz's Comments
I suppose you could say that it was inspired by the unofficial human-controlled version. Also, a very special thanks goes to www.thesaurus.com!
